On Staying "Private"

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

I know I'm constantly blogging for the whole world Internet to see, but my blog is still somewhat private. I made the decision when I first started to not make my blog known by my "real life" friends. I don't advertise my blog via instagram (ya know, by adding your URL in your about section), and I don't have a twitter or facebook that I share with friends. My closest loved ones know I have a blog (duh!), but other than that it's just you guys!

I think it is so important to be able to share what I'm feeling at any given moment! Not that I'm insecure with who I am, but I do like the privacy factor I got going on...I don't have to worry about holding my tongue or watching what I say for fear that I will be judged harshly by those around me. That is not to say I won't go completely public one day (maybe even soon), but I like the carelessness this blog brings to me. This is after all my "journal", so it should be as me as possible, right? RIGHT!

Do any of you do the same thing? I'd love to hear your opinions on this :)

I' starting a fun new series here on the bloggy:
I'll be sharing my favorite things with you lovelies each Monday to help you shake those Monday morning blues (we all get 'em right?). I hope this is something you'll enjoy! First on the agenda...
It's no secret I love me a good photo. Maybe even more than your average Joe! I'm always carrying my phone with me, unlike my hefty DSLR, so I have learned a thing or two about what works best for me and produces a great camera captured picture :)

1. VSCO cam: My absolute favorite photo app with filters! They are somewhat simple enough to let your photog skills shine through, but add just enough oomph to wow your friends. This is the app you see on most of my instagram pics (@torib) and I think it's safe to say I'm obsessed.
2. AfterGlow: The perfect amount of filters. This is my go-to for shape borders and some black and white filters!
3. Squaready: Hate those dark black out of place borders on some instagram photos? This app allows you to size down or crop your photos into a square, ready to go (get it?)
4. Picframe: There are tons of collage apps out there, but this is my choice. It allows you to change the color of borders, size of each individual photo and choose the amount of photos you want in one collage...perfect? I'd say so too!

Anything you want to share? Comment below with some of your favorite apps you think we oughta know about. Also, I'd love to know what you think about this new feature? Is it something you'd be interested in coming back to weekly? xoxo T

+ I guess I may have overlooked the fact that having five classes would keep me swamped most of the week. I barely have time to relax! Well that's not true. I procrastinate so much that I have to stay up late finishing hw the night before it's due...so I guess I do relax a little ;) When will I learn?
+ I leave for San Francisco next week for a few days. My best friend in the entire world is turning twenty-one and I can not wait to see her and celebrate! Birthdays are kinda my thing. I can't wait to shower her with love (and maybe a present or two).
+ I am playing this song on repeat. RiRi is my girl!
+ Quinn is talking up a storm and it's so fun to watch. Our latest favorite game has us going back and forth. I say NO! and she says YA! Her little attitude gets me everytime, I love her so!
+ I now have more than 300 followers! I started this blog in the hopes that it would be a fun hobby, but it has grown into something much more. I look forward to reading your blogs everyday and making new friends. I can't remember what it was like not sharing my life with the internet (lol) but I can't imagine it any other way :)

Happy weekend dolls! Hope it's more laid back than my hw filled one (if I actually get around to it!)

How can someone so little take up so much room in your heart?

I will never know, but I can't complain. My heart has grown so big since this little cookie blessed us with her presence. I adore her and being her aunt has made me so happy! Soon she'll be two and a little terror. I can't wait ;)

Happy Monday loves!

As a self-proclaimed yoyo-er, (the weight kind, not the toy kind) I have come to find what works well for me and my body. I'm not an expert, but I have found some fool proof tips I'd like to share with you. I've been inspired lately à la Ana (Bluebird Kisses) and Alycia (Crowley Party) to share my story. It's a brand new year and although I love the idea of adding "loose weight" to my mile long resolution list, that's not what I have found most helpful.

1. It's much easier to focus on everything you're going to gain, rather than thinking about ditching those extra lbs. You will not only fit into those coveted skinny jeans, but you'll gain confidence! What's better than feeling your best? Nothing I tell ya!
2. Water Water Water! Duh I know, but for realz. I'll even double up on the water when I eat something not so good for me. Double plus: it keeps your skin looking clean and pimple-free.
3. Fruits and Veggies. This one is key! Not only are they good for you but they're yummy and full of vitamin C and other healthy benefits.
4. Stay active. I know it's not realistic for me to tell you I work out everyday, because I don't, and I doubt anyone really does. But the key thing is to keep moving. Ditch the elevator and take the stairs. Anything~
5. Celebrate even the smallest accomplishments. Staying healthy and active is hard work! Allow yourself to feel happy when you loose that extra pound, or get up early to go on a walk around your neighborhood. Every little thing counts.

I hope this series is something you'd be interested in! I love reading tips, tricks, and real life success stories from other bloggers. It inspires me to be healthy and happy! I hope I can provide some of that for you here too. I would love for you to link up anything you find helpful! Pins, blog posts, inspiration of all sorts.

I'm such a busy bee over here! I took a quick spontaneous trip up north before starting school yesterday. Two new classes that I am already obsessed with and three more new ones Monday. I am still so shocked proud to say I love what I do! Well I love studying to help do what I love, if that makes sense. Back to the busy school life, which also means I'll be getting dressed more often (aka outfit posts, lucky you ;))

Link up your favorite posts from the week in the comments so I can come take a look!

This is going to be somewhat of a catch up post:
Coming from someone who hardly ever gets sick (and if I do its no more than a day), this lingering flu/cold has outstayed its welcome! I miss my normal voice. I miss my workouts. Go away!

Has anyone seen Les Mis or Django yet? Both are fantastic! Seriously though, I was left speechless and amazed. I want to see both again...in theatres...right this second...

I start school back up in less than a week. Eeek. I miss my friends and my brain misses the activity.

Today I am going ice skating in downtown! To say I'm excited is an understatement. You non Southern-Californians don't know how good you have it. I want some snow, and I want it bad. I guess the fake ice rink will have to do.

Happy first Friday of the new year! You go Glen Coco...
