I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, if you celebrate. Opening presents by the fire, sipping on hot chocolate and eating way to many cookies, sounds perfect doesn't it? It totally was! The best part was seeing Quinn reach for a new present every other minute saying "open dis one? ok!" The cutest thing I've ever seen/heard. I adore that little minnie so much. Can't wait to share a few xmas picks tomorrow. xo

Merry Christmas Eve! (in leopard faux fur)

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

I've been a little quiet on the blog front for a couple weeks now, but I have a couple fun outfits to share with you. Before I forget, merry Christmas Eve! I am so ready to soak up the company of everyone I love! Here are a few fun images my fabulous friend Deniz of Le Fashion Monster took. I took a different route with this great (faux) fur jacket and added a hat to dress it down a bit. Hope you like! xo

necklace: H&M
Chambray: H&M

I wish I could say these are the last of my seasonally "inappropriate" outfits, but the weather here is supposed to warm back up. Not too sure I am ready for that again, but the cold does make me a little cranky. I would dress in beanies, boots, coats and sweaters all day everyday if I had my way! There's something just great about feeling like you're wearing pajamas even though you're dressed up. Anyways that's completely beside the point. This is quite a fancy outfit for me. Typically one I wouldn't wear for just any occasion, but it's fun to dress outside your comfort zone sometimes! Happy Friday xx

kimono: Oxford Trunk
liquid leggings: Urban Outfitters
shoes: Zara (old)

Happy Wednesday! If you're anything like me you've been obsessing over kimonos! I keep seeing them pop up all over the place on so many of my favorite celebs. I wanted to take mine on more of a fancy route. This one from the Oxford trunk is so fun with the longer back and shorter front (mullet anyone?). Cheers to the week being half way done. xx

wishing for warmer weather

tee: Chaser
skirt: Oxford Trunk
shoes: Dolce Vita (old)

I know these photos are really impractical now, seeing as I wouldn't be caught DEAD stepping outside in the cold in either one of these pieces, but I want to share all of these before the time to do so is long gone. I am loving this grungy looking ripped up tee. I am 100% a t-shirt kinda girl, so I swooped up another color to last me a little while. And while you can't see the back of this skirt in these photos, it is lined in tulle and would look killer with some tights for a fun holiday party! Hey, I might just have to do that sometime soon ;)
This is my last week of classes before finals! Seriously, where has the time gone?! I can't believe I'm going to be done with school by this time next year. Mind blown...Hope you're staying warm wherever you are! xo

Modcloth's Uniquely You Challenge: Winterberry Tart Coat

Modcloth's Uniquely You Challenge: Winterberry Tart Coat

Modcloth's Uniquely You Challenge: Winterberry Tart Coat by toribaldridge featuring metal jewelry

I'm so excited to be participating in Modcloth's Uniquely You campaign! I styled their Winterberry Tart Coat  (obsessed much?) with several other Modcloth items. This coat would likely steal all the attention of any outfit, so I wanted to play down all of the other pieces. I love that the coat can act alone as a dress, but that might be asking a bit much these upcoming cold months. Just add a scarf, tights, boots, a fun headband and necklaces and your sure to stand out at any holiday party or shopping date. Wouldn't this be the cutest outfit for Christmas Eve or New Years?

Sweater Weather

photos by Jorden Keith
sweater: H&M (this color sold out but same in beige here)
shorts: Urban Outfitters
boots: Urban Outfitters (on sale for $49!)
watch: Michael Kors

I had the pleasure of shooting with Jorden a few weeks back when the weather wasn't so biter cold. I'll be sharing some more images from our shoot next week, so look out for those :) This is the first time I've taken pictures with anyone other than my mom. To say he made it easy for me was an understatement. As far as this outfit goes, you will find me in this type of ensemble often. This sweater is SO comfy cozy that it's hard to even get me out of it. I live in this thing. The color is also different than anything else I have, and I love it.

I was recently looking over some of my past posts where I was WAY more open with my personal life and shared every little thing I was thinking. I want to get back to that place soon, and hope you won't mind that I over share every now and then.

beanie me alone

beanie: Cotton On (similar here for $5!)
purse: Marc Jacobs
watch: Michael Kors
boots: Diba
jeans: Frankie B
top: H&M

I am obsessed with this comfy beanie! It's great for hiding three day old hair ;) and its cute! Win win in my book.  These boots are also amazing. They are a few years old and may have been locked away mysteriously in my closet, but I plan on wearing them a lot more now. Happy Wednesday. I'm off to my third to last week of this quarter and I can't wait for a break! I love everything I'm learning, but man am I lacking on sleep. xo T

Happy December loves! I am still racking my brain as to how this year is almost over...Not that I'm not happy to start anew, but holy cow! This year just flew by. Anyways, I am obsessed with this fun chambray. It is unlike any other I've tried on. Super soft and comfortable. Right up my alley :) The weather has been completely bipolar lately, but I've enjoyed getting to be able to dress for warm and cooler temps (which never gets below 60 btw). I hope you all had a great weekend and an even better Thanksgiving last week. I have SO much to be thankful for this year, and always. Hope you were able to spend the holiday with your loved ones (if you celebrate!) and maybe you even got a couple Black Friday steals. I know I did and I can't wait to show them off to you all soon.

ombre scarf

Thursday, November 21, 2013

top: H&M
Scarf: Free People (love this and this!)
Boots: Steve Madden (old)
Rings: H&M (similar)

Its almost the weekend! It rained drizzled for the first time in a while yesterday and I welcomed it with open arms. I LOVE the cold! It rarely gets cooler than 65 degrees here in LA, but when it does I go all out. Scarves, beanies, sweaters, boots...the whole nine yards. This outfit was one of those said times. I usually go for infinity scarves, but this extra long Free People scarf is extra cozy and the perfect mix of purples! Love it. The zipper on the back of this top also adds a little extra something, don't you think? xx

Introducing : Style Antics

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Naturally, with growth comes change, which is exactly why I have decided to rebrand this blog. As a creature of habit, I tend to shy away from things that are uncomfortable. My hope, with changing my blog name, is that I can take a step forward and take this blog down a different path. Form
follows function right? (man that’s a lot of cliche phrases, but what can you do?)

I have been debating when the best time would be to do this, and an easy way for my followers to get adjusted, but I don't think there is one! I am a part of a fun week of giveaways (here!) and am still sponsoring a couple blogs under my old blog name, so I know this might be tricky, but please bare with me!

Although my blog might be renamed, that doesn't mean I plan on switching things up entirely. Style Antics will be my place to share my favorite style related things: fashion, design, inspirations, and whatever else tickles my fancy ;)

As you can probably tell, I have a brand spankin' new url to go along with my blog revamp. If you like bookmarking your favorite blogs (which I totally do!) then feel free :) You will still be able to access my blog by using my old url (http://toribaldridge.blogspot.com), but it just seems much simpler to me that you get this one stuck in your head. I'm here to stay a while. I am SO excited to make this change and thank you for all the support and love I've received up until this point.

Why "Style Antics"?
I wanted a name I could run with! I don't think people are defined by one specific thing, and that is most definitely not what I want this blog to be. An antic, by definition, is anything that is very playful, funny, and silly. Ding ding! That's my style to a t. Plus, The phrase "Style Antics" sounds wildly similar to style addict, doesn't it? (please say you agree!?!) If anything  am addicted to learning about style and all that it entails...

Thanks for following along! Stay a while, wont you? xx

Placing an image inside of text : photoshop tutorial

Sunday, November 10, 2013

Happy Monday! It's been a while, but I thought I'd show you all a fun Photoshop Tutorial. If you don't have Photoshop I highly recommend you get it! It does cost quite a bit, but they have a free 30 day trial you can purchase here. This tutorial will show you how to place any image you have inside of text. This is a fun way to spruce up a moodboard, or liven up an ordinary image!
Step 1: Choose an image you want to fill your type with and paste it onto a new blank document (this will help once we delete some of the image in future steps.)
Step 2: Choose the font you want to use. It works best with a thicker font (I used Bebas Neue here) because you want to showcase as much of your picture as possible.
Step 3: This may look exactly like step 1, but you will need to move your text layer (the one that says "coffee" in this case) and drag it under your image layer (layer 1 in this case). If your current text looks as if it has disappeared, don't worry! It's just hiding behind your image.
Step 4: There are several ways to do this, but the simplest would be to go to the top navigation bar, go to layer>create clipping mask. Once you have done this, you might be ready to go! Click save and have fun. If you aren't satisfied with the size of your text, you can still transform the text size, like this:
Make sure you select your text layer (in this case "coffee" and then scale your text to the size you want.  You can either highlight the entire word and change the point size to what you want, or free transform your text by pressing command T (on a mac) and dragging in the corners. Remember to hold down shift when transforming anything.

If you have any questions regarding ANYTHING Photoshop, don't hesitate to ask! I was shown everything at one time or another, so I'd love to help with any questions you have. You can see my other tutorials here and here.
